Six reasons owners keep returning

Over Fifteen Years of Experience

The principal watchmaker has been working with mechanical movements since 2004, with particular focus on antique and vintage pieces.

Written Assessment Before Work

You receive a documented explanation of what we find and what we recommend before any work begins. No obligation to proceed.

Nothing Proceeds Without Consent

Parts choices, finish decisions, and additional work are all confirmed with you in advance. The bill matches what was agreed.

Parts Made When Needed

For discontinued models, we can fabricate replacement components rather than leaving a watch unserviceable for want of an unavailable part.

Honest Timelines, Kept To

We set estimates that reflect the actual work involved and communicate clearly if anything changes. We do not give optimistic dates we cannot meet.

Service Warranty Included

Standard mechanical services carry a warranty period on the regulation. If the movement drifts outside the tested rate, we review it at no charge.

Expertise built through years of varied work

The depth of experience at Siam Mongkol spans both the common and the obscure. We have serviced mass-produced mechanical watches and rare pre-war pocket watches, and the range of that experience informs the judgement we bring to every new piece.

Knowing when to intervene and when to leave well alone is a large part of what experienced watchmakers bring. A watch that has settled into a comfortable rate over decades does not always benefit from a full disassembly, and we say so when that is our assessment.

  • Over fifteen years of mechanical watchmaking practice
  • Experience across Swiss, Japanese, and Eastern European movements
  • Specialist focus on pre-1970 antique and vintage pieces
  • Capacity to hand-fabricate scarce components
  • Timing instrument testing on all serviced movements

  • Written intake assessment with documented findings
  • Horological-grade lubricants matched to movement type
  • Regulated ultrasonic cleaning for movement components
  • Pre- and post-service timing machine records
  • Individual padded storage throughout service period

A clear process, followed without shortcuts

The sequence of a proper mechanical service — disassembly, inspection, cleaning, re-lubrication, reassembly, adjustment, testing — exists for good reasons. Each step reveals information that the next relies on. We follow this sequence because it produces dependable results, not as a matter of ceremony.

Modern timing equipment tells us accurately how a movement is performing before and after service. These records are part of what you receive when the watch is returned.

Communication that keeps you informed

Watch owners often find the experience of entrusting a valued piece to an unknown workshop unsettling. We try to make that experience straightforward: a clear assessment at intake, updates if anything significant arises during the work, and a full account of what was done when the watch is returned.

You will know who is working on your watch, where it is in the process, and what to expect when it comes back to you.

  • Intake assessment documented in writing
  • Prompt contact if unexpected findings arise during work
  • No work proceeds beyond the agreed scope without consent
  • Full service account provided on collection
  • Post-service questions answered without charge

Our service prices:

  • Standard Mechanical Service฿4,600
  • Crystal Replacement & Polishing฿8,900
  • Antique Restoration & Conservation฿14,800

Prices reflect the core service. Additional work, if required, is quoted and agreed separately before proceeding.

Transparent pricing with no hidden additions

Our prices cover the core service as described. If additional parts are needed — a replacement crystal, a fabricated component — these are identified during the assessment and quoted separately before any work proceeds. You will not be surprised by the final bill.

This approach requires more communication at the assessment stage, but it is the only way to give meaningful prices while still accounting for the real condition of each watch.

What you will not find elsewhere

Distinctive features of working with Siam Mongkol

An honest opinion, even when it is not what you hoped for

If a watch is beyond economical repair, or if the cost of proper work would exceed the value of the piece, we say so. We do not manufacture work where none is needed.

Conservation rather than cosmetic improvement

We do not polish cases as a default. Original surfaces, brushed finishes, and the wear marks that give an old watch character are treated as worth keeping unless the owner requests otherwise.

Fabrication for discontinued references

Older watches with unavailable parts are not turned away. Where components must be made, we have the capability to fabricate them — a service that most workshops in Bangkok cannot offer.

A small workshop with a measured caseload

We limit the number of watches in the workshop at any one time. This is not an accident — it is how we ensure that each piece receives proper attention rather than being processed in a queue.
