Why owners choose us

The difference a considered approach makes

Assessment Before Commitment

Every watch receives a careful examination before any work is proposed. You receive a clear, written explanation of the options and can take time to decide.

Original Character Respected

We do not restore a watch beyond what is appropriate. Patina, original surfaces, and period-correct details are kept wherever possible — not polished away.

Parts Made When Necessary

For antique and discontinued models where parts are no longer available, we have the capacity to hand-fabricate suitable components to keep the movement in service.

Kept Informed Throughout

We let owners know as work progresses, and contact you if anything unexpected arises. Nothing proceeds without your awareness and agreement.

Service Warranty Provided

Standard mechanical services include a post-service warranty period, giving you confidence that the work has been carried out to a dependable standard.

Unhurried Timelines

Watchwork cannot be rushed without risk. We set honest timelines that suit the complexity of each job, and we keep to them — particularly for delicate conservation projects.

A quiet word is where it begins

Have a watch that needs attention?

There is no obligation in reaching out. Describe your watch and what you have noticed, and we will respond with our honest thoughts on what might help.

Common questions

Things people often ask us

How do I know whether my watch needs a full service?
Common signs include a noticeable change in timekeeping accuracy, a mainspring that runs down more quickly than usual, difficulty in winding or setting, or a movement that sounds rougher than it once did. If you are unsure, bring the watch in for an assessment — we will look at it and share our observations without any obligation to proceed.
How long does a standard mechanical service take?
For a standard service, we typically aim for a turnaround of two to four weeks, depending on the current workload and the condition of the movement. If parts need to be sourced, this may extend the timeline. We will give you a realistic estimate at the time of assessment and keep you informed if anything changes.
Can you work on watches that are no longer in production?
Yes. Many of the watches we see are discontinued models for which parts are difficult or impossible to source. Where original parts are not available, we have the skill to hand-fabricate replacements that match the original specifications as closely as possible. We discuss this with owners in advance so the approach is understood before work proceeds.
Will polishing my watch reduce its value?
For many watches — particularly vintage and collector pieces — preserving the original surface and any accumulated patina is important to both value and character. We will not polish a case unless you wish it, and when polishing is requested we work to the owner's preferred degree rather than applying a single standard finish. The outcome is always confirmed before we proceed.
What does the antique restoration service involve?
Each antique project begins with a careful, unhurried assessment of the watch's condition. We then prepare a written summary of the work we would recommend and explain our reasoning. The restoration itself may include movement cleaning and repair, corrosion treatment, dial conservation, and if necessary the fabrication of missing parts. We carry out this work gradually and keep you informed at each stage.
How is the pricing structured, and are there any additional costs?
Our listed prices cover the core service. If the movement has damage requiring additional work, or if parts need to be sourced or fabricated, we will quote for this separately and clearly before proceeding. You will not receive a bill for work you did not agree to. Any parts selected — such as a replacement crystal — are confirmed with you beforehand.
